A romance worth fighting for

I enjoyed this book, it was a sweet yet complicated love story! There were definite laugh out loud moments & then parts that were achingly tender. I was embarrassed for them when they were caught with Mavis! (You'll know what I mean when you read the book!!)
I liked Olivia right from the start, I'm attracted to a high maintenance complicated woman!
It's good to read a book where love doesn't quite conquer all, but shows you can fall in love with the least likely people.
I've read all of Camryn Eyde's work & I'm enjoying meeting her characters.
Looking forward to seeing where the next book takes Darcy & Olivia.

The characters are complicated and interesting

This is a wonderful, fun read. The characters are complicated and interesting. Olivia is a conundrum, in the most fascinating of ways.

So the story begins introducing us to Darcy. Darcy is a 23 year old college grad on her way to Harvard Medical School. Darcy is also in love with Taylor, her childhood best friend. She has subjected herself to never having a romantic relationship of any kind because of her pining for Taylor. Upon arrival at Harvard, Darcy meets her roommate, Olivia and surprise her new roommate is total nutcase.
Olivia is an interesting character. She makes this book really stand out. She is flawed on so many ways, but you can't help but like her. She is prickly and sassy, and so challenging to figure out. You have to feel for Darcy having her as a roommate. She is challenging to say the least. Both of the main characters have issues they are working through. In Olivia’s past and Darcy’s inexperience with relationships.

The book really picks up steam and gets turned on its head when BFF Taylor gets a girlfriend back home in Minnesota. Taylor up until Darcy leaving for med school always dated men. Darcy is jealous and doesn't understand why Taylor chooses to fall for a girl, especially a girl that is not her. So she tells Taylor a little white lie to save some face. What's the lie you ask? Well that she is dating Olivia of course. Olivia is then cajoled into going along with Darcy's charade. I won’t tell you anymore because that would spoil this amazing story. PS, The first kiss is hot. Fire extinguisher please!

The story is well written, clear and concise. You enjoy the twist and turns of their path to true love. The ending is sweet and fits perfectly. Eyde does not rush through the ending. It is well formulated and will have you begging for more I can't wait till the next book in 2016.

A Delight To Read

You know it's not very often I find myself changing who I'm rooting for as the love interest for the main character. Actually, I've never been able to do that. Normally the first person I have hope for usually quashes any other candidates that arise, despite how well they are suited. But something about this book did just that for me. (SPOILER WARNING) When Darcy was revealed to be in love with Taylor, I was aching for her to reveal her feelings. I'm obsessed with friendships developing into romance, and here I felt that same longing. When Taylor revealed that she was interested in Charli, my heart burned for Darcy. I felt her devastation. And yet...right from the get go, there was something about Olivia that got to me. The way she challenges Darcy and could get under her skin, and the whole love/hate relationship situation is VERY appealing as well. Then the moment they kissed...I was hooked! My own feelings for the pair paralleled Darcy's! Banished was any interest in Taylor, all I cared for was Olivia and her relationship and clear interest in our oblivious girl. (END SPOILER)

The story made me care for the characters; their personalities are strong and leave a lasting impression. I'm sufficiently attached to them and am thoroughly annoyed to find I have to wait until 2016 for the next one! I'm addicted to Darcy's story and incredibly eager to find out more about Olivia and whether the pair will be okay.
As is usual for the author, the writing style is deliciously detailed and emotional. The descriptions are wonderfully complex and the language is easy to follow, I simply love her style. The adult content is tasteful and there to enrich the story, rather than add needless smut. I adore the writing and find myself incapable of putting down the books she writes for tedious things like sustenance or sleep. I look forward to more of her work and especially, despite what will be a very frustrating wait, the second part of Tricky Wisdom.

not so bad... come on guys...

I couldn't help but smile while reading this book. I found it to be a fresh outlook on Bjork. Instead of hearing someone who knew everything, we see Bjork through the eyes of someone who started out knowing nothing about her. It's a first hand evolution of the bjork fan. I find it to be almost a representation of the crossing over into that place where it is hard to return. Once I became a fan, I was a fan for life, and I admire this author for sharing this raw, intimate experience she had. I enjoyed the book, and I feel it only brought me closer to Bjork's music. I think every Bjork fan could relate to this book.

Double yaaaaaaaawn

While I must admire the author for trying to write a book about Bjork, I began to wonder if she really was, or was just trying to write about her social view towards God knows what. I mean I know it's trendy and all but Labeling this and that conservative and calling former mayor Rudy Guliani an ---hole was not only in bad taste but has nothing to do with the book. If she wants express her liberal ideology kaka she needs not look far, just don't put it in a biography about Bjork, who is quite the fox I might add.

No non-sense, conversational, and informative

If I liked Heil’s first book, What They Don't Tell You About Bipolar Disorder (and I did), then I love his new book, Everyday Instability and Bipolar Disorder. It gives simple to understand examples and explanations that anyone can understand. It is especially helpful for someone like me who has family and friends who are Bipolar, most who are undiagnosed or just recently diagnosed. While I understand the disorder from a clinical perspective it is a completely different experience to read the DSM or a textbook definition of the symptoms and to have someone who has the firsthand knowledge to account the differences within the disorder. The best part of this work is that it helps you understand your loved one, or yourself, on a day-to-day basis. There is more to Bipolar Disorder than the highs and lows we all hear about; there are every day struggles that occur that no one without the disorder has to deal with. It helps to outline these struggles in an understandable and relatable way with multiple examples.
The best thing about Heil’s writing is that you feel like you are having a conversation with a friend. His no non-sense, conversational way of writing is both comforting and amusing while dealing with what can be a difficult subject for many. If you are looking for an easy, informative read from someone who has real life experience from his own life as well as those who come to him for advice, you are in the right place. This book is especially vital to read for friends and family of those who have Bipolar Disorder, as it may shed a light on some of the aspects you may not understand in the everyday living with someone with this disorder. It can be an eye-opening read. I know it was for me. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

A must have for someone dealing with Bipolar Disorder!

As someone recently diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, I realized quickly that there are tons of information available online and in books about how to manage the extreme highs as lows of the disorder, but next to none about how the illness effects your day to day life outside of the extremes. By reading this book I learned about how your thoughts can be "stained" by the disorder. I learned how to effectively identify and deal with stained thoughts and I saw examples of how stained thinking can effect a persons life on both sides of the disorder, a concept that was new to me, among other helpful things This book was very informative and the real, down to earth way in which it was written made it easy to read and to relate to the writer. As I have read previous work by this author, I can say that his body of knowledge is unique and his methods refreshing. I would recommend this book to anyone who is bipolar, loves a bipolar person, or just wants to better understand a commonly misunderstood illness.

Great book! A must read if you have a friend or a loved one suffering from this disorder. It gives great insights to someone who is new to dealing with the illness. It also gives you hope.

Gardner and I really enjoyed it. We follow a married couple

This was my first by M.L. Gardner and I really enjoyed it. We follow a married couple, Phillip and Stephanie, as they struggle with their relationship and their daughter's life choices.
Phillip wants to work it out with Stephanie but she's having second thoughts about everything. My heart went out to him over and over again. He didn't deserve to be treated the way Stephanie was treating him. I understand he made some mistakes but nothing was worth making him into a target.
As you can probably tell, I wasn't a fan of Stephanie. I felt like her mood swings were no different than a teenager's and it wasn't ideal to witness on a mother. My opinion of her didn't really change until the last part of the book but it wasn't a complete 180 either. I didn't want to strangle her anymore so I took it as a plus.
This story deals with a handful of dark topics and it was rough witnessing everything play out. The situation was awful but I couldn't form a connection to any of the characters so it made it less impacting.
The timeline and writing was a little rocky. I kept getting confused on what was the present and what was the past until some certain detail made it clear. I felt like the past events could've been spaced out throughout the story instead of giving it to us all at once. And for the writing, there were so many short sentences that I felt like I was reading a list most of the time. Anyway, that's just my opinion.
The second half of the book was easier to get through and I liked that ending a lot.

Great Realistic Read

This is such and amazing story. I enjoyed it immensely and had my fingers crossed for the ending
that I was so desperately hoping for.

Phillip and Stephanie's marriage is slowly crumbling and has been for years. Their daughter Allie
has been addicted to drugs and running away since the age of 16 and it has taken over their lives.
After being neglected by his wife for quite some time, Phillip engages in some harmless flirting with a
co-worker. Things start to spiral out of control and Phillip almost commits the ultimate betrayal. He tells
Stephanie of the almost betrayal and she has all but given up on their marriage.

Phillip and Stephanie get their daughter into rehab and now Phillip is ready to put his all into saving his
marriage. A suggested getaway for Stephanie and Phillip by a friend forces them to deal with their issues.
They will either stay together and give their marriage a real chance or go their separate and continue to deal
with their daughters struggles civilly.

5* Emotional read that lifts your spirits

*whew* This couple's story put me on an emotional ride.

Her anger made sense; the hopelessness and wanting to give up I could understand...in the beginning. Then, just when I thought I'd had enough of her sharp tongue and sarcastic retorts, things began to change. My feelings about her began to change as she softened and showed her more vulnerable side .

This hero decided to fight for his marriage. THAT was what really made the book for me. I was happy to read about a hero who, admittedly, slipped at one point, but then made the decision to not give up on his family. I forgave his slip. Then he slowly, patiently brings his wife around. Brings THEM back to what's important: their love for each other and their daughter.

Lovely story.
