Cross Dress to Impress is the definitive work on cross-dressing.

Lesley Scott has created a remarkably well crafted book.

The lovely, and striking(!), Miss Scott is a gifted and accredited writer, a dedicated and tireless researcher, knows the interweb and the fashion world like the back of her hand, and is a remarkably delightful conversationalist over a shared appetizer, al fresco is best!

The read is a delightful mix of savvy perspective, hard facts, bountiful references, and all delivered with a whimsical serendipity. It is a fun read! Think Disneyland, with wicked eyeliner!

Lesley credits all her sources, (to her credit!), and shares a warmth and acceptance of us.

Her positivity, and her wicked sense of humor helps make this book totally f awesome!!!

Plus, fabulous moi is on the cover!!!

Mulukutla S. Sarma is the author of numerous technical articles published in leading journals, including the first studies of methods for computer-aided analysis of three-dimensional nonlinear electromagnetic field problems as applied to the design of electrical machinery. Not bad, but not good either

I have this book, and have read it. At the university I give lectures in dynamics of electrical machines. For the students it is the first time they expirience electrical machines. A problem you always face is what is a good book on electrical machines? I know from expirience that the perfect book propperly will never exist. In this book, I must say, there are some very good explanations on how the different motors work and their dynamics. However, for long pasages it is _not_ clear what the aim is. For a person already knowing electrical machines, it is interesting to talk about motor-windings in a general way, but if want to learn how the basic motors as a DC_motor, a induction motor and a synchronous motor works, it is nescessary to explain electromechanical energy convertion first and then attack each of the motors individually. This is where this book fails. It is a mess with some good parts inside.

About the Author
Bonnie Dow (Ph.D., University of Minnesota) is Associate Professor of Speech Communication at the University of Georgia. She is the author of Prime-Time Feminism: Television, Media Culture, and the Women’s Movement Since 1970 (1996). She is former co-editor (with Celeste Condit) of Women’s Studies in Communication and former co-editor (with Celeste Condit) of Critical Studies in Media Communication.  

Julia T. Wood (Ph.D., Pennsylvania State University) is Professor of Communication Studies and Lineberger Distinguished Professor of Humanities at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She teaches and conducts research on personal relationships, intimate partner violence, feminist theory, and the intersections of gender, communication, and culture. She has authored or edited 23 books, including Who Cares?: Women, Care and Culture, and Gendered Lives, now in its 7th edition. In addition, she has published more than 70 articles and book chapters. During her career she has received 12 awards for scholarship and 11 for teaching.

An excellent translation and commentary o the Psalms

This new translation and commentary on the biblical book of Psalms is very good for four reasons: (1) The Hebrew script and English translation are broken down, as is usual in Koren books, into easy to read phrases. (2) The translation of the Psalms by Rabbi Eli Cashdan is in modern English. For example, Psalm 23 begins:

A psalm of David.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside still waters
Instead of:
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;
He leadeth me beside the still waters.

(3) The book contains a learned and easy to read introduction and commentary by Rabbi Dr. Tzvi Hersh Weinreb who is not only a renowned rabbi but a former practicing psychologist and able to understand the emotions underlying many of the psalms. (4) The book is filled with a wealth of information and inspiration. For example: (a) Each of the 150 psalms is preceded by a brief meditation written in the first person which captures the predominant mood of the psalm. The introduction for the first psalm, for instance, has; “I face a difficult choice. Good versus evil. How can I choose? Will I regret my choice of the former, when the latter has such obvious advantages?” (b) Each psalm is followed by an essay that expounds upon one or two of its central teachings. (c) It contains prayers to be recited before and after the reading of psalms. (d) It identifies nine psalms that can be recited on special occasions such as prayers for recovery from illness and prayers to be recited at a cemetery. (e) It also has two charts that people can use to study the psalm weekly or monthly.

Another Koren Publishers' jewel

Personally, I found Rabbi Weinreb's commentary to be concise and interesting and in keeping with his objective, despite what another reviewer stated. When I chose to purchase this edition of the Tehillim (I was living in Haifa, Israel) it was because of the beauty of the Koren typesets, and so to have parallel English and Hebrew in this edition served my needs. My hope one day was to grow in fluency in Psalm cantillation, so the symbols in this volume are easier to read than that present in my JPS edition of the Tanakh. I have ordered recently the JPS edition of Rashi's commentary in English. Then later perhaps for a contrasting commentary I might acquire Brueggeman's. This version of the Tehillim is ideal for someone who intends to read/study the Hebrew/English text on a weekly/monthly schedule, which is provided in this edition, as well as some prayers.

This book is great for those who have not delved into Philippians before or have poor study habits. I would not recommend it for anyone with an extensive Bible background or for those who want to understand the redaction, historical setting or pithier subjects. Basically, it was a little bit too soft and fluffy for me.

Waste of Money....

This is probably the worst textbook on this topic because it does little justice to the concepts. I found it hard to understand exactly what the book was talking about and what the exercise questions were asking. In many cases, I was unable to find any corelating content in the book, between questions and answers.

The book also references some languages such as ADA , FORTRAN, ML, etc. Unfortunately, it simply touches each one vaguely. I was REALLY put off by this book. It is very verbose and does not approach topics in a linear way. I used the book for an online course and resorted to consulting other books, such as "Learning Computer Programming: It's Not About Languages" by Mary E. Farrell.

Too vague and general

I used this book for my programming language concepts course, and I was quite disappointed. It's just way too vague, trying to cover too many things. And few, if any, of the concepts from chaper to chapter carry through to develop a cohesive understanding. I also think most people who'd consider this book (or take a class requiring it) should have the knack to pick this stuff up pretty quickly from experimenting and perhaps a website tutorial or two.
I did enjoy the chapter on axiomatic semantics, which offers a straightforward approach to proving programs and more importantly loop invariants. But that was hardly worth nearly $100.

This book is very vague, doesn't go into enough detail about anything and the examples and practice problems are badly worded and poorly explained. HORRIBLE. I've heard that Programming Language Pragmatics by Michael L. Scott is a great book.
