despised the heroine

I have never disliked a heroine as much as I hate Vanessa. She is a total beatch*. She is a materialistic, nasty mean spoiled snob. She completely lacks a heart. She ridicules people for the most inane reasons and treats most people like they are beneath her. She only dates men who are of her social standing but will screw men she considers below her like bartenders and Nick, the hero.
Nick is brought into her house as a foster child and she does everything she can to be nasty to him. She is pathetic. She is very jealous of him when her parents show him attention and give him some gifts even though she has everything that she could ever want. Vanessa reads his diary that documents the negligent and abuse that he suffered as a child, including being homeless. However it does stop her campaign of trying to get him out of the house. She seduces him with the intent of having her parents catch them having sex. If they are caught then she believes that her parents will kick him out of the house. Unlike her, Nick had deep feelings for her and when she admits that she only slept with him to get him kicked out of the house, he voluntarily leaves. He gives up living in a house where he is safe and treated well to go live with his father who just got released from prison. He and his father barely make ends meet. Vanessa's parents were going to adopt him but he gave that up too because it was her wishes.
They meet years later when he is desperate for work and applies for a job at her company, as a labor. She wants to have sex with him again because he does not think highly of her based on what she did to him. She finds it challenging. Unlike Vanessa Nick is a good person who displays positive characteristics. He is creative, caring and shows flexibility. He does not judge other people based on what they do for a living and does not pine after money. Also he loves the witch, which makes me feel even more sorry for him.
Besides disliking the heroine there are other things that I did not like about this story as well. The writing was choppy in places and the book needs to be professional edited. Also I wanted a HEA as for the HFN. For me, a HEA could include Nick dumping her and being with someone worthy of him. Besides Nick, the only other thing I liked about it was that it was KU book.

In my mu humble opinion, I say skip this one.

I took a chance on this book because it had so few reviews and I regret my purchase. There are so many spelling errors and I really hated our protagonists, Vanessa and Nick. They had zero chemistry and although Vanessa was smart and had a strong work ethic, she was vindictive and incapable of love in my opinion. The book spanned over 8 years as Nick and Vanessa start of as foster siblings but somehow we are supposed to believe they desired one another when they hardly speak or interact. Later they meet again when Nick was hired to work for Vanessa's company as "manual labor." There is little character development for Nick and yes, Vanessa does redeem herself a little by taking care of Nick when he gets hurt and standing by their relationship. However, I still say skip this book!

Oh dear god

I am going to give this author the benefit of the doubt and pray that english is her second or third language or maybe this was translated poorly. There were so many instances of incorrect word usages that I wanted to rip my hair out. There was absolutely no emotion anywhere in this book. The protagonist was a horrible person in the beginning, but tried to play at being a good person in the end. The male lead started off as an intelligent, down on his luck kind of guy, but he turned out to be flat and vapid as he just blindly did what he was told and was content to sit and watch TV.
